Alex Forest Bushcare Group

Alex Forest is one of the beautiful hidden gems of Alexandra Headland. It’s rich with a great diversity of native plants and wildlife..

This group, formerly known as Alex Forest Preservation Group, formed in 1995 when the forest was first put up for sale by the Presbyterian Church and the group of local residents fought to convince Council to purchase the 3.4 hectare of wet schlerophryl forest which is the only wildlife refuge on the coastal plain between the Maroochy and Mooloolah rivers. Another 2.5 hectares was purchased in 2000 for the community.

Some of the group members have great native plant identification skills and can tell you what the species are.

On the 1st Saturday of the month, 8 – 10am, the group clean the tracks and bridges, remove weeds and rubbish and conduct track inspections. New people are encouraged to attend working bees which finish off with a morning tea.
